Medical Biller

Job Summary:

The Medical Biller position requires will analyze and understand patient charts and manage/monitor the claim reimbursement process. The Medical Biller manages the collection of all claims until payment is made by insurance companies and/or patients.

Experience with AthenaOne is preferred, but not required. A qualified candidate will demonstrate a friendly, positive, and inclusive attitude in their role, while maintaining focus and attention to detail on the claim submission process. This position also requires someone who can work independently with little daily direction, as well as being a member of a team. Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Claims Submission: Prepare and submit accurate and timely insurance claims for all patient services provided in compliance with applicable billing regulations
  • Coding: Assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes to ensure accurate billing and compliance with insurance guidelines
  • Billing Inquiries: Respond to relevant inquiries regarding billing issues, resolve discrepancies, and provide excellent customer relations with working partners
  • Payment Posting: Post insurance and patient payments accurately and promptly, reconcile accounts, and manage accounts receivable
  • Collections: Follow up on unpaid claims, work with insurance companies and patients to resolve outstanding balances, and initiate collections processes when necessary
  • Compliance: Stay up-to-date with healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and coding changes to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized billing records, including patient demographics, insurance information, and billing history
  • Reporting: Generate and analyze billing reports to track billing performance and identify areas for improvement

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Knowledge of insurance billing and claims processing
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

Education & Work Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Medical Billing Training and Certification
  • 1 year Medical Billing experience (preferred)
  • Work experience within Primary Care Clinic and Mental Health Therapy settings (preferred)

Status: Full-Time

Schedule: M-F, 8-hour day shift

Compensation: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour DOE
